God’s people should follow the Lord in faith, not fear. True faith looks beyond situations to God, whose power and promises transcend all. From a human point of view one might think all is lost, we can’t do this, we are about broke, this is more then we can handle, or look at the mess were in. No matter what things look like from a human perspective, God is in control and we can trust in His ever-faithful love for us. “Do not fear, for I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10). Fear has no place in the Church. Some people use fear to manipulate others or to turn others against someone else. Satan’s uses fear to divide and conquer. Satan uses fear to cause God’s people to give up and quit. Fear can cause us to take our eyes off of the Lord. It damages our relationship with Him and our brothers and sisters in Christ. He does not want us to walk in fear overwhelmed by our circumstances. God wants us to learn to walk in faith, trusting in His commands, and promises. When we react to situations in fear, then we have failed to trust God in faith. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” There is nothing in our lives that is greater than God; no circumstance or crisis, no habit or heartache, no sickness or grief, nothing visible or invisible, absolutely nothing. Therefore, let us walk in faith and not in fear. As the old song says, “Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory! O glorious victory, that overcomes the world.”
