A Sovereign God

God has applied His sovereignty to the babies who died in infancy that’s why they are saved. God created them in their mother’s womb, “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13). He is the One who marked the date of their birth and the date of their death, “and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them” (Psalm 139:16). He gives and takes away their lives. For God there is no accident. He has set the appointed time of death for each human being (adults and infants alike), ‘The days of humans are determined; you have decreed the number of their months and have set limits they cannot exceed” (Job 14:5). When Christ died on the cross, He sovereignly applied atonement for the original sin and actual sin of His elect. To say that God sends some infants who died to heaven and some to hell is tantamount to saying that He is not sovereign in the salvation of children dying in infancy.
