Drug addiction

Revelation 9:21, “And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or there thefts.” The word sorceries comes from the Greek word pharmakeia meaning: pharmacy, medication, drugs, sorcery, witchcraft, and magic. This verse implies that the great tribulation will be a time when drugs will not be controlled. Our culture today is already infested with rampant drug and alcohol abuse. The majority of people in jails are there on some charge related to drugs. Much has been said in our newspapers recently. Drug clinics keep growing in number. Drugs are a key tool of Satan to deceive and enslave people in destructive and expensive addictions. People need to start worshiping God and stop being entertained by the wickedness of the world. They need to call good, good, and evil, evil. Drugs can short circuit our safeguards, blow our moral fuses, confuse our judgment, and remove our self control. Drug and alcohol abuse opens you up to spiritual attacks. It gives Satan a stronghold in your life. How can anyone who claims to follow Jesus be used by God as a witness to others when they have no self control with drug and alcohol abuse? Jesus can take away all our addictions if we want Him to. That’s the key, if we want Him to. That’s a decision that each person must make concerning addictions. Do they want help? Do they want to be free from drugs and alcohol? This will only happen when they truly want to be free from it. When they reach that point God will be able to help them and make them into a new person.
