1 John 4

“Those who do not love do not know God. The absence of love in the life of an individual proves that he does not know God. The one who does not love is a stranger to God. He never even began to have a relationship with God; that is there was never a time when this person could have legitimately claimed that he knew God.” According to this Southern Baptist leader, is the person who does not love going to Heaven or Hell? According to God in verse 8 is this person who does not love going to Heaven or Hell? Verse 8 says, “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” If someone does not know God where are they going when they die? Love should be a part of the life of everyone who claims to know Jesus Christ as their Savior. Last year I told a close friend of mine that what we need more love. That is a God like love, a sacrificial love, a forgiven love, a love that reaches out to everyone. That is the type of love that Jesus has for us and we should share it with others.
